I
attended a non credited fine arts center and worked as
a yard man in trade for free lessons in a variety of media.
I sold a few works in a local boutique, had some prints
made of posters and did some freelance work for the local
newspaper sketching pen and ink drawings of local churches
to be displayed in the Sunday section. I bought a kiln
and did some pottery, ceramics and sculpturing.
I got involved with computers when they
first became popular for home market (remember the Radio
shack TRS80, Texas Instruments T1 and my favorite, the
"Commodore 64". Naturally I gravitated to computer
graphics, and spent hours working on early programs like
Paint, Geoworks and the first Corel Draw (before there
were version numbers).
I had my own home art studio but was finding
myself spending more time "fooling around" with
the computer, then dabbling with the pen or brush. I soon
moved to Miami,
Florida and went to work in a print shop. I got married,
(was blessed with four beautiful daughters) and worked
in the printing industry for 20 years doing everything
but
work
in the
graphic department (could never seem to get into Macs).
I taught myself Photoshop, Illustrator, Bryce
3d, and other major graphic programs as well as HTML. Front
Page and Dreamweaver and at 49 decided to go back
to school after over 30 years and try to get that degree
I never got. I first took a year of computer certification
courses but at age 50 I realized I needed to do what I
really loved, so after much prayer, I switched majors to
Multimedia Technology. Unfortunately the company that I was working for was bought out ina company merger so I ended up moving to another state so I never finished my degree.
I
have been doing graphics in one form or another for
church's throughout the years. From church bulletins,
flyers, and stationary to Youth t-shirts and web pages.
I have been the director of the Multimedia Ministry in 2 differnt churches and over the years have created hundreds of original Worship, announcement and presentation slides.
My second love is playing drums which
I have been doing for 40 years now. I have been in a few rock and blues bands over the years and have played drums in church. I also teach drum lessons part time nearly every day from my home studio. |
I believe in doing all things skillfully and
with excellence. It is not just a means for monetary profit,
but a labor of love for the Lord whom I serve. I believe
our work should reflect our gifts and our passion and not
just be about provision. My motto for doing quality work
is the scripture that says "Whatever you do, work
at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the
Lord and not merely for people." (Col.3:23-ISV)
